Coloring isn’t just for art class anymore! From preschool to high school (and beyond), there have been studies to prove there are so many benefits to coloring. Let’s explore some ways coloring can enhance your classroom.

Why add coloring to your classroom routine?

Coloring doesn’t have to be a major part of your day, but with all the benefits that come with coloring, we love having the option of coloring in school! You can set up a coloring station in your rotation, you can set up a coloring corner in your room, you can find some coloring activities to start the day or you can have coloring sheets to pull out if a kiddo needs a break.

Here are some ways we’ve used coloring as an outlet or to enhance our instruction:

These are great to use as dividers in a binder and students love pulling them out for morning work or if they finish early! Print a stack of these for students to do when they need a brain break and have them hang them around the room for instant holiday/seasonal classroom decor.

Granted, this resource is geared toward early elementary grades, but this is a great activity for students who need some extra practice with sight words. We love using this as a station option or for an at-home option they can do with a caregiver. Add some color to your instruction with this option.

Math AND coloring? Yes, please! Students are LOVING this activity and teachers have the ability to choose the skill they are working on so it’s great for multiple skill levels and grades. Imagine color by number, but with a twist. Students actually get to WEAR these bands out the door when they finish. Love!
