It’s never a BAD time to discuss peace, love and equality, but we LOVE discussing and revisiting these topics with our children and students around the beginning of the new year and it just so happens to correlate with Martin Luther King, Jr Day coming up. We love completing this VW Van Peace craft and writing assignment either right before MLK day or right after. It makes a great jumping point to have meaningful conversations with your children or students about how they might drive peace into the world. So refreshing to hear their creative and kind ideas! This resource is both student and teacher friendly. Easy to prep with different writing pages and a blank writing page if you want to choose your own prompt. Students love putting together the VW peace van and the finished product translates into an ADORABLE bulletin board with a great message for your students to see daily!
If you’ve had a lot going on and need a quick activity that doesn’t take a lot of prep or time then this World “Piece” Craft and Writing activity is just for you! Sometimes we have time to do an activity for a holiday that is beautifully prepped and planned for and sometimes it’s a little rushed…and that’s OK! Use this quick and fun craft to discuss ways to spread kindness and “PIECE” through the world. There are differentiated writing options to accommodate a variety of grade levels and students. Just print, have your students color and CREATE. This craftivity may not take long to make, but it can guide lots of discussions and makes a super cute hallway or classroom display.
One more option for an MLK Day activity! We have a Directed Drawing Automatic PPT specifically for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Grab a cup of coffee, pick some grade appropriate ELA standards you want your students to practice, set them up with the automatic PPT slides and have some HOT (ok, maybe warm) coffee while your students are engaged with creating their own unique drawing and practicing the writing skills you chose. Win, win!
